One-Line Bio

I am not simple... to better understand me watch Cosmos and Out of Africa, read A Sand County Almanac and Brokeback Mountain and visit Hovenweep National Monument and Durango, Colorado.

Biography

I am 38 years old. I do chemistry at "work".

I am 5’8” and about 130 pounds. I have dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.

I was born in Texas and lived in Houston until I was 15. My father, an engineer for Shell, was transferred to Cortez, Colorado in 1983 where I graduated from high school. I graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado in 1992.

Since then I have lived in Denver and Boulder, Colorado, Portland, Oregon and College Station, Texas.

I have returned to Boulder.

I have one sibling – a younger brother who lives in Seattle who I love very much. My parents were divorced in 1991. I have one remaining grandparent who I love with all my heart. I come from a large extended family on both sides. All of my family, excepting my brother, lives in Texas. My father’s side of the family calls a small ranch just outside of Iola, Texas, home. I spent countless hours of my childhood doing ranch work and exploring what was essentially an 800 acre private playground. My mother's clan hails from Abbeville, Louisiana. Yup, a bunch a Cajuns.

I am gay. I love men and I love being a man. Ahhh, the delights of the treasure trail!

Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)
- Walt Whitman, "Song of Myself"

I want to live now. And I can be anything I need to be. And I want to be with you.
You have a good heart and you think the good thing is to be guilty and kind always but it's not always kind to be gentle and soft, there's a genuine violence softness and weakness visit on people. Sometimes self-interested is the most generous thing you can be.
You ought to think about that... You ought to think about... what you're doing to me. No I mean... What you need. Think about what you need. Be brave.
And then you'll come back to me.
- Joe Pitt, "Angels in America"

I shall be a dawn made out of all the air I ever breathed.
- St. Geraud

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
- Emerson

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.
- Proust

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
- Theodore Geisel

Someplace between apathy and anarchy is the stance of the thinking human being. He does embrace a cause, he does take a position, and can't allow it to become business as usual. Humanity is our business.
- Rod Serling

And geography blended with time equals destiny.
- Joseph Brodsky
